1 The competition is open to any student at a UK university or anyone who has graduated from a UK university no earlier than Summer 2002.

2 Employees of Telegraph Group Limited, Hollinger Telegraph New Media Limited or their group of companies ("The Telegraph") Altran and Renault, their subsidiaries or associated companies, members of their families, advertising and promotional agencies or anyone else professionally associated with the competition are not eligible to enter.

3 Entrants must submit a completed application form which includes the answer to a question set by the Altran Engineering Academy panel. Click here for the question and the downloadable entry form. No proof of purchase is necessary.

4 Answers to the question set must be no longer than 500-words and any answers over 500 words will be disqualified. The word count shall not include the bibliography, any description of graphic illustrations submitted alongside the application, the project title or project summary.

5 Application forms must be submitted online to [email protected]

6 From all entries received, the five best candidates as determined by the Altran Engineering Academy Panel will be invited to an interview with the Altran Engineering Academy Panel at the Renault headquarters in Oxfordshire. Shortlisted candidates must attend this interview in order to be considered for any of the prizes.

7 The winners of the competition will be chosen from these five shortlisted candidates by the Altran Engineering Academy Panel by July 23, 2004 and will be notified in writing within 10 calendar days thereof.

8 The judges' decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.

9 First prize consists of a six-month placement with the Renault F1 Team engineering department in Oxford, commencing September 6, 2004. This shall also include for the duration of the placement: a Renault F1 pool vehicle with a fuel card to be used solely for commuting to and from Renault F1's office in Oxford and for any other work or travel requested by Renault F1; a total minimum salary of £6,500; and accommodation consisting of a one bedroom flat in Oxford

10 The second prize shall consist of a tour of the Renault F1 Team Factory plus any associated (UK only) travel expenses.

11 The third prize shall consist of a Renault F1 Team goody bag.

12 Prizes are not transferable and there are no cash alternatives.

13 The prizes described are available on the dates of publication. Events may occur that render the competition itself or awarding of prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of Altran and The Telegraph and accordingly Altran or The Telegraph may at their absolute discretion vary or amend the competition and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach itself to Altran or The Telegraph as a result thereof.

14 Telegraph Group Ltd, Altran and Renault F1 Team reserve the right to publish some or all of the entries in whole or in part or use them in any way they think fit, including syndication or other forms of commercial exploitation without the permission of the entrant or payment for such use.

15 Entrants warrant that their entry will be an original work and not a copy or substantial copy of any work.

16 Entrants must be willing to participate in publicity.

17 Entrants agree that as regards their entries, all copyright and all other rights in the nature of copyright throughout the world including for the avoidance of doubt all artistic, literary and dramatic rights shall belong to The Telegraph, Renault F1 and Altran.

18 The entrant agrees to assign to The Telegraph, Renault F1 and Altran full title guarantee to all copyright in the work submitted.

19 Entries will not be returned.

20 Only 1 entry per person.

21 It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the entrant agrees to abide by these rules. Details on this page form part of the terms and conditions.

22 The closing date for entries is June 30, 2004. Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted.

23 The name and county of the winners will be available on www.altran.net from September 1, 2004 until December 31, 2004.
